Dear Colleagues,
We are proud to announce that APU’s status as a Premier Digital Tech University (PDTU) has been renewed for a further 3 years by Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC). This was announced in a ceremony held in Cyberjaya on Monday 17th June 2019.

The ceremony and presentation of plaques was officiated by Prof Dato’ Dr Ir Saleh bin Jaafar, the Deputy Director of Higher Education (Private Sector), Ministry of Education.
APU first attained the “Premier Digital Tech University” status in 2017, as acknowledgement of our commitment towards offering top-notch digital technology courses and producing highly skilled professional graduates to fulfil future digital job demands locally and globally.
The renewal of the Premier Digital Tech University status for a further 3 years provides us with the impetus to continue to support the government’s aspirations to produce top talents and future leaders in digital tech.
The highlight of the announcement ceremony was when our CEO Datuk Parmjit Singh was specially invited for dialogue session on stage together with the Chief Executive Officer of MDEC, Pn. Surina Shukri, where Datuk Parmjit shared the success stories of APIIT and APU, in particularly our continuous focus for more than 25 years on transforming young people into highly employable professionals.

Ever since APIIT was accorded MSC Status in 1997, and continuing with APU’s Premier Digital Tech University status since 2017, we have worked hand-in-hand with MDEC to create a nurturing ecosystem to develop future digital tech professionals. Some significant recent developments under the APU-MDEC partnership include the launch of APU CyberSecurity Talent Zone, the establishment of the APU Digital Career Centre, the completion of the PGI UK Cyber Security training and certification, Big Data Week and numerous industry-centric workshops and events held at APU.

This year, alongside the Premier Digital Institutes of Higher Learning (IHL), MDEC also named eight strategic industry partners, namely Amazon Web Services, CISCO, Intel, JobStreet, Microsoft, Oracle Academy, RunCloud and SAS. These industry partners are set to provide free cloud credits, training modules, certification programmes, training, mentoring and employment tools. It is notable that APU already works closely with all of these global market leading organisations, and we look forward to further enhancing our collaborative efforts with these companies.
Credit goes to the team from the Schools of Technology and Computing for leading and coordinating the submission of information to MDeC for the renewal of the PDTU status, and we all look forward to achieving even greater success in Technology and Innovation.
Thanks and Regards,
